Frequently Asked Questions

Social-emotional learning teaches the everyday skills students need to communicate, work with others, make responsible choices, and build confidence. These skills support success in school, at home, and later at work.

Velita Learning serves students in Kindergarten through 12th grade in four groups: Little Lights (K–2nd), Ready, Set, Grow! (3rd–5th), Discover, Focus, Thrive! (6th–8th), and Adult Me (9th–12th).

The 4-week fall series starts in November, and sign-ups close October 31. Little Lights and Ready, Set, Grow! meet on Thursdays, and Discover, Focus, Thrive! and Adult Me meet on Fridays. Once a group fills, we send families a quick poll and choose the class time that works best for most of the group.

Each 4-week series is $100, which is $25 per class. It is paid as one package, with one invoice sent after your group is confirmed. There are no sign-up fees.

Families paying privately receive one invoice once their group is confirmed, payable by Zelle, PayPal, or credit/debit card before the first class. Sage Oak families can use their instructional funds instead (see below).

Yes, for Sage Oak families. Velita Learning is an approved community provider with Sage Oak Charter Schools. Ask your teacher to request Velita Learning for your student, and submit our interest form by October 31 so we can hold your spot. Since the school's approval can take some time, we recommend asking your teacher as early as possible. If your family is with a different charter school, ask your teacher whether Velita Learning can be added as a provider, and let us know on the interest form.

Submit the sign-up form by October 31. No payment is needed to save a spot. In early November, we email every family to let you know whether your group reached 6 students, along with the class time. Once your group is confirmed, we send one invoice for the 4-week series.

A minimum of 6 students is required for each group to run. If this minimum is not reached, we will contact your family with the best available options, which may include placement in another compatible group or the next series. You are never charged for a group that does not run.

Our Signature Programs are intentionally limited to a maximum of 10 students per group. This keeps the experience engaging, interactive, and personal for every student in the group.

Let us know ahead of time and we will share what was covered so your student can catch up. Because the series is priced as a package, missed classes are not refunded.

All sessions are held live via Google Meet. Families will receive a Google Meet link and session instructions after enrollment is confirmed.

No. Velita Learning classes are educational enrichment. Social-emotional learning teaches everyday skills like communicating, working with others, and making responsible choices, in a class setting like any other subject. We do not provide counseling, therapy, diagnosis, or mental-health treatment.

Families are welcome to communicate with Velita Learning in Spanish. Spanish-language groups may be offered in the future based on family interest. Contact us for more information.

1:1 Student Success is an individual 30-minute session for students who want personalized support with organization, planning, study strategies, executive-function strategies, goal setting, school transitions, self-advocacy, and more. Sessions are $50 each and are separate from the Signature Programs. Visit the 1:1 Support page to request a session.
